ESG is a leader in design and manufacture of custom bearings for downhole drilling equipment. We have been engineering solutions for our downhole mud motor customers since 2000. Our cylindrical roller thrust bearings and mud lube bearing assemblies are manufactured to our customers exact specifications.
Both our Edmonton and Houston facilities stock and distribute bearings to customers around the world. Many of these bearings are engineered for a specific motor design and inventories are based on a consumption forecast. Bearings are also made to order. Customers can order complete thrust bearing assemblies or just the races for assembly with their own bearing.
Oil Lubricated (Sealed) Bearing Assemblies
We design and manufacture cylindrical roller thrust bearing assemblies that are used in sealed and lubricated bearing applications. These bearing assemblies are custom designed to maximize the load carrying capacity of the tool.
The robust machined steel welded cage provides excellent high temperature performance and longevity while allowing maximum capacity by optimized roller fill.
All races are machined from bearing grade steel and are hardened and ground to exacting tolerances. Several different arrangements can be designed including multiple bearing cages in a tandem and triple assembly to further increase the life and load carrying capacity of the bearing assembly.
Mud Lubricated Bearing Assemblies
Our Mud Lubricated Bearing Assemblies are custom designed and manufactured to maximize load carrying capacity and life. Each Bearing Assembly is made up of multiple rows of high contact angle, high precision, bi-directional angular contact bearing sets. They are designed to withstand the harshest downhole drilling conditions. The bearing raceways are designed with a special contour that allows for optimum contact between balls and raceway for the life of the bearing.
Even as the assembly wears, optimum contact is maintained. Races are machined from bearing grade steel that is case hardened, hard machined, and polished to provide maximum surface hardness and wear resistance with excellent impact resistance. The combination of case hardened bearing grade steel and special raceway contours ensure maximum run life and avoids problems such as cracked races and sheared balls.
